Desiree Ontiveros - New Orleans entrepreneur and small business owner.

My name is Desiree, I’m an an ally. #blm

Hello, my name is Desiree Ontiveros. Founder of Badass Balloon Co. I am a Latinx Female Entrepreneur and I am an ally. ⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As a WOC, I have personally experienced different forms of racism. However, I have never feared for my life because of the color of my skin while doing seemingly normal things like being at a park or going for a walk in my neighborhood. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

That is a privilege that is a not lost on me.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I support those who have been oppressed by systemic racism and hope you will too. If you’re tired of this conversation can you imagine what it feels like to be on the other side being gaslighted constantly by people who want you to believe racism isn’t real and minorities are just a problem? I do.⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀
I believe that complicity is the backbone to systematic racial injustice. Speaking out to correct learned racial bias from parents, co-workers and thought leaders in your community may seem like the scariest thing you can do right now with so much tension. It cannot be as scary as slowly dying with a knee on your back in front of a crowd of people who are too afraid to intervene on your behalf because they do not know their rights and fear toxic authoritarian culture. ⠀⠀⠀⠀

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Speak to your families, call elected officials, VOTE, donate to organizations who have been fighting systemic injustice like @aclu_nationwide @splcenter @mnfreedomfund ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
