THE WOMAN, THE MYTH, THE TWISTED SENSE OF HUMOR...

Badass Balloon Co. is a WOC owned and operated company. Founded by a former fashion publicist and stylist, Desiree spent over a decade building brands in the fashion and luxury market in London, NYC and LA. Headquartered in New Orleans, LA, the city is the source of inspiration for the bon vivant nature of these sassy party balloons. Visions of hilarity are executed from happy hour in the heart of the French Quarter.

How it started:
OUR 1972 AIRSTREAM AMBASSADOR LAND YACHT

Every company needs a place to let their creativity flow. Like most small businesses, we started Badass Balloon Co. in our living room. In two years, we have quickly outgrown that and wanted desperately to be able to have friends over again. So it was only natural for us to find a smart way for us to spread our wings without breaking the bank. In 2013, our founder, Desiree, an Airstream enthusiast acquired her baby, the pristine 31 ft 1973 Airstream Ambassador Land Yacht. She slept 6. Had a full kitchen galley, bathroom and separate shower, huge closet and was made for the road. When Badass Balloon Co was launched, Desiree had little time for road tripping, the Airstream sat neglected in the drive way. Desiree even thought maybe she should find her a better home. Then it dawned on Desiree. For all the love and inspiration that Airstream gave Desiree, the Airstream was the perfect setting to call our workshop.  Desiree and her family worked hard on re-purposing the Airstream all summer long into a space that served as an office, studio, warehouse, shipping center and could meet the ever changing needs of a small growing business. UNTIL, we outgrew that. For a look into the renovation process click here.

How its Going:
The Warehouse

It happened. I became a property owner. Sure I still rent my aparetment but I wasn't going to pay inflated commercial rent prices so I hopped on the ladder. It's terrifying.

As a WOC and first person in my family to own property, it has been a long journey of no and more no's. Hell even when I am at the top people say no just to try and remind me of my place.

This is where I shall build my empire and I will leave the ladder for all of the BIPOC community.
