Pets Make Everything Better

Pets Make Everything Better

If you are lucky enough to have a furry, feathery, or scaly friend in your life, you probably heard about National Pet Day. I’m positive that not a day that goes by that you don't celebrate your animal companion. An estimated 68% of U.S. households have a pet and it is hard to put in words that rare kind of magic that these housemates can bring to our lives.

Not that you need any reassurance, but I’m still gonna give you 4 reasons why pets are the single best thing in this world! And I brought the receipts to prove it.

Pets improve your health

It’s official. Scientific evidence suggests that you might want to show your pet some gratitude for your good health. Exercising more is probably one of the best things that you can do and pets make you walk, play, and get out there moving and providing for them. Dog owners are about four times more likely to reach daily physical activity guidelines. So, ditch that step tracker and get a Labrador! Trust me, I’m a dog-tor.

Pets boost your social life

Your most treasured pet-to-human bond can also help to build human-to-human friendships. Another study showed that people with a strong attachment to pets end up feeling more connected to their communities and relationships. Pet owners are 60 percent more likely to meet new people in their neighborhoods. And there's no barking at the wrong tree, pets help you pick out the best kind of humans: those who also like pets.

Pets are the best wingmen

According to a new survey, your best wingman might be at the end of your leash. The data showed that 54% of people have found their pet as a great instant conversation starter with someone they are interested in. Also, nearly 6 out of 10 people say that they are likely to consider a person with a dog more attractive. On the other hand paw, cats are not always welcoming, but you know that if your cat allows being petted by that special someone, he/she/they might be a keeper! Cats take no BS and we all need that friend that just tells it like it is.

Pets are the snuggest emotional support

When Covid locked us away from the outdoor joy and the uncertainties were just too much to take in… pets were there, physically and emotionally. No telling you to get up and go when you decide to hide under the blankets. Instead, your pet just curls into a ball and nestles into the crook of your arm. No questions asked. No awkward moments. No need to censor yourself.

A recent study showed that 86% of cat owners agree that becoming a cat owner has improved their quality of life. A loyal dog will look into your eyes to gauge your emotional state and try to understand what you’re thinking and feeling. They can make you less stressed or anxious, and 30% less likely to visit the doctor later in life. So don’t be all stingy with the treats. Your pet has been working full-time as your therapist and not charging by the hour.

The ultimate BFF, a pet's love is truly unconditional. Just with collars instead of friendship bracelets. The bond between people and their pets is something to be relished every day. May you celebrate this April 11th with open arms and open paws! Happy National pet day from all of us at Badass Balloons!
